Top Gear’s Stig as seen at Loch Ness.  This picture was snapped by the Google Street View car and you can see it on Street View by clicking here or the picture.   No clue if it’s the real Stig or not because a lot of people have been pulling off silly pranks when they’ve caught word that the Google car was coming to their area.

Update:  The Stig in an office building.  Link

Tonight January 23,rd 2009at 11:35, Conan O’Brien hosts his final tonight show with appearances from Steve Carell, Tom Hanks and Neil Young and Will Ferrell.  It’s been an amazing run for Conan unfortunately, the NBC execs and Jay Leno had other ideas.  Conan, I would like you to know…  wherever you go, I will follow.  Farewell my friend, until we meet again.

Veyron Mouse

Conan Wastes NBC Money

Last night, Conan unveiled a Bugatti Veyron made to look like a mouse.  As he explained it, he didn’t do it because it was funny, he did it because it was a waste of money for NBC.  The total bill = 1.5 million.  Of course this isn’t true, the car was loaned to the show.

Source: Conan releases statement on late-night situation

For 60 years the Tonight Show has aired immediately following the late local news. I sincerely believe that delaying the Tonight Show into the next day to accommodate another comedy program will seriously damage what I consider to be the greatest franchise in the history of broadcasting. The Tonight Show at 12:05 simply isn’t the Tonight Show. Also, if I accept this move I will be knocking the Late Night show, which I inherited from David Letterman and passed on to Jimmy Fallon, out of its long-held time slot. That would hurt the other NBC franchise that I love, and it would be unfair to Jimmy.

Good for you Conan! Stand your ground. Jay… just GTFO already

I’m a huge fan of late night and was ecstatic when I heard 5 years ago that Conan O’Brien will be taking over the Tonight Show. Well, back in June 2009 it finally happened. I was happy yet sad. I was happy that I don’t have to wait up as late to watch Conan but sad that Conan had to tone it down a bit for the earlier audience. Gone are several of the characters that were geared towards his younger Late Night audience such as the Masturbating Bear and the Sears Tower In Sears Clothing. Initially things were good as everyone tuned in to see how the show would turn out but ratings soon started to slip. It seems that Conan’s audience started to tune out because Coco was toned down, the regular Tonight Show audience started to tune out because they can’t relate to O’brien, etc…. Anyways, NBC has confirmed that changes are to come which will see Jay Leno back at 11:35 for a 30 minute show and Conan following Leno. Pretty much the same thing since 1992. Maybe Conan will bring back some of his more risque characters and be more unrestrained.

NBC and Jay Leno already shafted another late night host by the name of David Letterman. For all you youngsters that don’t remembered what happened back in the early 90’s…. it goes a little something like this. Tonight Show host at the time Johnny Carson was about to retire, David Letterman who hosted Late Night was expecting to take over. NBC decided to go with Jay Leno as Carson’s successor. David Letterman promptly left for CBS and started The Late Show while NBC selected Conan to replace Dave on Late Night.

If I were Conan O’Brien, here’s what I would do. Bail on NBC. Dave’s contract is up in 2012… go talk with CBS and see if they’d want you to take over for Dave. For the next 2 years, take a break. Go back to writing for The Simpsons so that they retire with some dignity and take over for Dave when the time comes. History can repeat itself.

The Detroit Auto Show is one of the biggest auto shows of the year and manufacturers like to unveil upcoming models. Something to show where each manufacturer thinks the industry is headed. Ford has finally granted my wish of having the Euro Focus available in North America. Now I know that the recent recession has been tough on the automotive industry, especially the American 3. They’ve been building such junk over the years that people are considering foreign cars first before looking at American competition. Ford had the foresight to change their ways before the recession began so they were better off and was able to ride it out without a government bailout. GM and Chrysler did not unfortunately which brings me to the whole point of this blog entry. It’s important now to show the future with concept cars. Something that tells the public that they’re going to build cars that people want and that they’re going to build them well. Ford and GM have done a good job of this so far. Chysler, no…. They’re pushing their current lineup with new paint jobs. Seriously? I’ve predicted that when the smoke settles, one of the big 3 will not be around and guess who that’s going to be….
