On a recent trip to Las Vegas, I picked up a Nook Color from Barnes and Noble. As a lot of people already know, the device can be easily turned into a very capable 7″ tablet and it only costs $250 + tax! As a Trekkie, I immediately thought, “That thing is the perfect size for a Star Trek PADD!” After a few late nights of Photoshopping, I finally have it. I won’t go into details of how I did it at this time because I’m punching this blog up at work, I’ll save that for another post. I’ll also put the wallpaper and buttons up for download with the instructions as well. Here’s a preview….
This looks amazing! When do you think you can have the download up for this?
I’m working on it. Hopefully I’ll have it up by the end of the week.
Dude, this it totally bad ass! If you do make it available, I would definitely want it!
Dude! Sweet! Do want!
Out of curiosity, do we need to first install Honeycomb on the Nook Color? It looks like that is what you based your build off of. I’ve installed CM7 on an SD card and boot my Nook Color with that. Would I be able to still download this LCARS set up? Or will this LCARS download completely override everything? (make sense?) Also, do you have access to the Android Market?
Again, this is awesome.
You don’t need Honeycomb, I’m using Phiremod which is built off of CM7. I shouldn’t override anything, it’s just a background with Desktop Visualizer. What it basically does allows you to use images as icons. The launcher I’m using is just ADW EX.
PLEASE tell me how I can do this for my son!! Thanks!
I have another post up with instructions located here.

Let me know if you have anymore questions :)
Thank you!! He is already reading the instructions. We were at the Star Trek Convention last weekend and this is by far better than most of what we saw there!!!
Can you still read bn books?
I believe you still can. I was never able to because I’m up in Canada and I can’t use the Nook in factory form anyways but after flashing an aftermarket ROM on the device, I noticed the BN app still there.
How Do you get the app button in the right place it keeps coming up higher then it should
After a day of learning how to do the root and getting the software installed etc, tinkering with the programs and finally getting it ready to do the LCARS setup… I can’t make the buttons fit to the background. They’re either too small or too big and the option to edit might move the image but it also widens the detection zone. :(
Which widgets did you use for the clock and weather? I’d like to replicate those haha.
It looks like you hacked it to get this to work.
Wouldn’t it be easier to make a website with the right dimensions that links to youtube, twitter and whatever else? Google widgets can easily be added and there is no need to modify your device (and possibly brick it)
I was in pure delight when I saw the nook turn to an star trek padd. I want to do the same for my nook tablet. Very soon I will get an I Padd and do the same. Where can I get the program?
